Tory Burch Friends & Fans Event

How is it that my main hobby is shopping and I always seem to find out about sales later than everyone else. I’m going to blame my inbox. Well, what’s important is I (and you all!) still have today to shop the Tory Burch Friends & Fans Event (get 25% off your order by using the code FRIENDLIEST)…crisis averted!

I am always in LOVE with all the TB shoes, but they are definitely in the “treat yourself” price category so this event is the perfect time to click “purchase”! Oh, and to restock on those Revas because we all know how much action they get!

Fall Favorites: Colors

Hello there! After a VERY long blogging hiatus I (Jocelyn) am back. I’m going to be blogging full time for now so you will be getting more regular updates from us, yay! Here we goooo……

If you’ve been reading our blog for a while, you probably know that I’m crazy and I love the cold weather months. Dressing for fall and winter has to be my favorite thing EVER. Sweaters, layering, boots, cute jackets…it really is the best! Due to this, I obviously have about a million categories of things I love for fall fashion so I’m going to share them with you because…I can! Let’s start out with the beautiful colors that you can incorporate into your wardrobe now that the temps should be dropping soon. In my opinion, wearing darker tones in the summer can be hard when its so bright and warm out. Now I take full advantage of being able to incorporate darker colors into my ensembles!

Olive Green:

Cognac (for your bags, shoes, and other assorted accessories this is my favorite!):

What are your favorite colors for fall? Tell us in the comments below!

Anthropologie New Arrivals

Anthropologie is always one of my favorites and their new arrivals for fall aren’t making it any easier for me to keep my credit card in my wallet. Here are just a few of the pieces I’m dreaming of having in my closet…(key word is dreaming because I’m going to have to wait for all of these things to go on sale, let’s be real).

Anthro Risen Sun Sweater

Risen Sun Sweater Dress

Anthro really has a spell cast on me, I think. When I’m on the website I really believe, “yes I can wear this sweater dress and look like a chic hippie free spirit just like the model. I need this.” So I might try this on and it won’t look good because my free spirit status is pretty low, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m still obsessed with it.

Anthro Camofloral Neoprene Skirt

Camofloral Neoprene Skirt

I need this skirt. NEED. Imagine this in my family Christmas picture. Actually don’t…because if you can imagine my family’s Christmas picture that’s kind of creepy. But trust me, it would look really cute.

Anthro Domino Deco Cape

Domino Deco Cape

This cape could not be any more perfect. Definitely makes a statement but I don’t think its over the top. Love, love, LOVE.

Lumi Pullover

Lumi Pullover

You can never have too many basic t’s – but this one is so much fun with the trim and crossover detail. The perfect piece to spice up your errand running outfit a little (and it comes in lots of colors)!

And we can’t forget about shoes! Mostly boots which I am on the hunt for now that it is starting to get cooler out and my sandals are being put away:

I have about a million other favorite pieces that I just couldn’t include here for the sake of the post’s length, but be sure to check out our Pinterest for all of our fall fashion picks!

Wardrobe Wish List

You can’t always get what you want…but a girl can dream. These Rag & Bone boots have been at the top of my wish list for quite some time.

What items are topping your wardrobe wish list right now?

P.S. Check out more of my favorite (more wallet friendly) booties in the scrolling widget below!

Feeling Foxy

As you know from past posts, we are big fans of cute critters, especially when they are items you can decorate your wardrobe or home (tastefully) with. So…foxes seem to be the “in” critter right now, right? People are writing quirky songs about them, they are adorning a sweater on nearly every store’s website, and they are even available in knick-knack form. Per usual, I’m okay with it (even though it has made me miss my frand Erin from MKE. We shared a big love for quirky critters, so yah foxes remind me of her, get over it) as long as it doesn’t go overboard. Check out the lookbook below for some foxy pieces to get in on this trend.

Outerwear Obsession: Capes

I remember when I was little my grandma made me a cape. I got to pick out the fabric and the antique button for the top snap. It was (and still is) very special to me. I remember how excited I would get when an occasion would arise that was appropriate for my cape. Despite the fact that the it still has a home in my parents’ coat closet in Milwaukee, I have obviously outgrown it. A few winters ago I fell in love with the look again and was on a mission to find the perfect cape for my 20-something self. It seems it wasn’t just a trend because capes are still everywhere, and I’m totally fine with it.

Oh, and this one is my absolute favorite! Toggle buttons, plaid lining, and a hood. Its pretty much perfect!

How do you feel about capes (and if you love them as much as we do, which one is your favorite?!)

Friday Favorites: Piperlime

I always enjoy popping over to the Piperlime site (every time I visit the site I tend to have about 50 tabs open of things I need to have). I love that they offer something for everyone, style and budget wise (Um, Girl on a Budget is the best thing ever). Also, isn’t it kind of fun to scroll through and see the celebrity favorites and put together your dream life closet? It’s the best!

On a side note, another reason I’m excited to be living in NYC is that now I can actually GO to Piperlime and visit their brick and mortar store in Soho! Here are some of my favorites that just might be making their way into my shopping cart this weekend:

These are the perfect shoes for fall. A nod to the cooler weather with the suede but with cut-out sides and a peep toe they aren’t forcing you to transition to winter quite yet.

Chinese Laundry Jolt

I don’t know if I’m alone on this one, but I have really been wanting a pair of these comfy/dress hybrid pants. I don’t know what it is but I love them. Also, for some reason a huge rationalization for me when I’m shopping is “those would be great to fly in!”. (I don’t travel enough for that to be a valid reason for purchase).

Hive & Honey Military Twill Slouchy Pant via The JCR Girls

Hive & Honey Military Twill Slouchy Pant

This dress. With boots and tights. And it has the little pop of color I love. Dress, I already have a hanger reserved for you in my closet.

I’ve wanted a leather jacket for forever, but especially since my friend Laura got one. I’m jealous of how cool she looks in it. But seriously, it totally transforms any outfit and makes it seem just….cooler. I don’t know what else to say.

Tatami Leather Jacket

This one is really perfect, but it’s also $970 so I’m like…I’ll put that on my list of things my rich husband can buy me and I’ll buy this one instead:

Fast Forward to Fall

Okay. I know there are countless occasions where I am crying about the Midwest winters and how I just want it to be summer. Secretly though, I love the cooler temps and the fashion that comes with them. I walk around the house wearing wool sweaters, in denial that it is 90 degrees out. I’m crazy. I know. Let’s fast forward to fall when my layered looks won’t have to be thrown back in the closet once I have to leave the air conditioning.

Merino Swing Sweater:

Oh I can just picture snuggling up with a good book and some coffee in this sweater. It would also be perfect for a flight home during the holidays. Comfy and stylish, I’ll take one in each color please, thank you.

Tippi Sweater:

Floral without being over the top. Perfect for adding a little color to your wardrobe when you get in the habit of head to toe black.

Rag & Bone Charcoal Corduroys via The JCR Girls

Or as I like to call them teddy bear pants. Because all teddy bears I know wear them. Obviously.

Tory Burch Brita Riding Boots via The JCR Girls

These Tory Burch boots are amazing and nearly impossible to pass up since they are part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It would be a mistake not to buy them.

Is anyone else looking forward to fall as much as I am?

What We’re Into Right Now

Here are a few things we’re FALLing in love with (see what I did there?)

What are some things you just won’t be able to resist this fall?

Back to Crew

Fall is, in my opinion, one of the most stylish seasons. With temperatures comfortable enough to layer pieces without being hidden by outerwear, you can really let your personality come through. Although it’s bittersweet to see sweaters in store windows already, back-to-school time is the best excuse to stock up for a fresh start. J.Crew’s fall arrivals started trickling in in mid-July, teasing customers with perfectly preppy looks that it’s not quite time for yet.

The most versatile must-have? A cozy cardigan in a neutral shade. Whether you layer it over a dress, pair it with a flirty blouse, or just slip it over a cami and Minnies for a comfy day in the library, you can’t go wrong!

Next, let’s talk cashmere… specifically, the cashmere Tippi sweater. With a myriad color choices (seriously, we’re talking 5 shades of pink/purple) you can easily pair this with a fun necklace to stand out and still have your professor take you seriously (I’m talking to you, tube-top-in-class girl).

What better way to show off the remnants of your bronzy summer skin than a pale pink popover? Tucked into rolled-up jeans and complemented by a neutral shoe, it’s a great casual look for running around campus. Add some stand-out earrings or switch the flats for heels to meet up with friends for dinner!

A perfect all-American look for a chilly fall day: plaid shirt, jeans, boots, and a field jacket (a vest would be great, too!). Just grab your books and a latte and you’re ready to go!

Here is another great outfit made up by three staples you can get a ton of wear from individually. If I ever have to meet with an advisor, a professor, or anyone else that I’d like to see me in a professional light, I like to dress up a little bit – but by mixing up a schoolboy blazer with a feminine top, the look is still young and fresh.

So, tell me, what’s on your list for back-to-school?
