If you know one thing about our fashion sensibilities, it’s probably that’s we’re drawn to the classics. For fall + winter, that means tweeds and plaids, cotton and wool. And then there’s our perennial favorite – stripes. Whether layered under sweaters and vests or incorporated as thicker sweaters or coats, stripes are always on standby.
These cold temps aren’t going away anytime soon. Tweeds provide the weight and warmth you need to combat to frigid temps in style.
I’ve been finding so many ways to style the Lady Jacket in Metallic Tweed. For one, the bracelet sleeves make it easy to show off a pop of color. And the mannequin at J.Crew SoHo posed a style challenge – wear the lady jacket like a cape. Challenge, accepted.
For this iteration, I’d like to thank Jenna Lyons, Jackie O and Anne Hathaway’s wardrobe stylist for the inspiration. These Over-the-Knee Boots only look high-end, on major sale ($64.50) – snatch up a pair while you still can!
Must be the holiday season, because plaids are present throughout the home. These Pottery Barn throws come in the prettiest color combinations, and these oversized Target pillows add a splash of Christmas cheer to our brown leather sectional.
Moving on to festive attire, J.Crew does it again! We’ll take one of each of the following, please:
Winter, spring, summer or fall – stripes are 100% appropriate for every season. For the dead of winter (hate to break it to you, it’s upon us), opt for cozy knits and use your cotton Bretons as layering pieces under sweaters, scarves and vests.
When it comes to stripes, Saint James is the gold standard. J.Crew has been collaborating with Saint James for years, and we adore the collections season after season. This season, it’s the Saint James for J.Crew Slouchy T-Shirt that is really catching our eye. Also comes in a short sleeve slouchy version, in 4 fun colors!
While a serious investment, here’s what you can feel extra good about when growing your Saint James collection: Careful attention is given to every step of the manufacturing process. For example, after each part of the shirt is cut, the pieces are then applied to a needled table, which allows for each stripe to be perfectly aligned from front of the shirt to back. Talk about a lot of love and personal attention! Read more on the Saint James website.
Saint James sells their tried-and-true pieces, such as nautical shirts and knits on their website, saintjamesboutique.com. Here’s a sampling of our faves:
