Perfect Party Frocks

With the temperatures drastically dropping (in MN at least) and the layers of clothing accumulating, I can just feel the holidays getting closer. Early November thru New Years = prime time for parties — holiday parties, company parties, family dinners, soirees, galas, fancy schmacy gatherings and New Years’ Eve bashes. Not that I get invited to a TON of parties, but my closet likes to remain prepared nonetheless.

So, what do you wear, there?

Warning: Your options are dresses and more dresses. Because I really like dresses.

Silk at J. Crew

J. Crew Jules Striped Silk Dress

Is there anything that makes you feel more luxurious than the feeling of silk against your skin? J.Crew doesn’t seem to disagree. Their latest release of the Jules striped silk dress is pure genius. Sure, J.Crew usually conquers fabrics such as lace, cotton, and eyelet, but there’s something about their silk products that’s really got trendsetters going crazy. The Jules dress is partially lined and falls just above the knee, giving way to a fun yet elegant take on the perfect summer dress. The greatest attribute of the Jules silk dress is that it’s perfect for day or night and is versatile enough to sport with heels, flats, or sandals. Not to mention, the exposed zipper up the back adds an element of rebelliousness with the otherwise modest look. In addition, the style of the dress can be belted at the waste for a tighter fit or let loose for a busy day running around town. So much versatility, we can hardly handle it.

J. Crew Silk Cami + J. Crew Blog

Another silk piece that we admire is the J.Crew silk cami. It’s ideal for layering under a cardigan sweater but multitasks as a skin revealing piece, as well. For a relaxed look, one could pair the tank with light wash jeans and head to that summer festival concert you’ve been waiting for all year. For a more formal occasion, such as that byob dinner date with a special someone, throw on a blazer over the cami coupled with dark wash jeans, and you won’t even need that glass of wine to feel amazing.
