I woke up one day recently and realized Christmas’ saucy reds and sexy greens and New Year Eve’s shameless sparkles are behind us now, so we essentially have NOTHING to look forward to effectively until mid-/late March. I proceeded to walk around looking like grumpy cat for the rest of the day, whence I got together with Future-Sister-in-Law, for a beverage and we proceeded to do what any JCR girl would do: open her Internet browser and check out the J.Crew website… obviously.
Actual quote from our conversation: ”I haven’t checked the J.Crew website today. Something might be new. I might need it.”
I have been a terrible JCR girl of late and hadn’t checked out the Weddings and Parties Tab in some time, so naturally I was excited to see the Spring Preview was available.
First impression: Hooray! We started brushing our hair again! Kind of!
Since we don’t know the names of these dresses yet, I’ve decided to give each dress my own name.
SWISS DOT DEPRESSED
This dress is adorable, which is why I am so depressed about it. I look at this and think what might have been. Oh, what might have been if only this dress had been tea length. It would have flowed so nicely with that 1950′s fit and flair! I would have purchased it right now to wear on my wedding day, which would probably have led to a seriously concerned boyfriend, but come on… I would have been so cute. My dreams are crushed.
UNDER THE SUN
Do my eyes deceive me, or is this dress made out of our much loved and missed J.Crew Sun Dress Fabric? Welcome to my life circa 2007. If this is made out of that mystery crushed-crimped cotton fabric, it will be the most comfortable wedding dress in the world. I love the subtle sweetheart neck and the full A-line. This dress is simple, but it’s not plain. ALSO: the little fabric flower belt around the waist is a sweet & elegant touch. ALSOALSO: pockets. Obsessed.
GUINEVERE
In grade school, there was a period of time when I became obsessed with Camelot, and fantasy in general. I think because that mini-series Merlin came out around that time. I was also convinced that if I tried hard enough I would see fairies. I was awesome. Anyway, during this time I got a nightgown made of Irish linen and cotton eyelet lace so that I could be a night-fairy named Guinevere, duh. This was that nightgown. And that’s all I have to say about this one.
Despite my flippant attitude, I did like the dresses this season, which I have dubbed Throwback ’13. I’m a big fan of throwbacks, be that to the ’50s, my high school sundress years, or my borderline-concerning active imagination as a child.

I love these wedding dresses. I have three daughters who are teens (one pre-teen who thinks she’s a teen). I so want them to get their wedding dresses from JCREW one day. It won’t be hard…they are all die hard JCREW fans!
