This weekend I participated in the seasonal ritual of spring-cleaning, specifically my closet. As I organized my clothes pulled out items that I just did not wear anymore, I noticed a monochromatic trend. Black, grey and white dominate my closet space.
At first, I rationalized that I had just invested in all the fall/winter clothes on sale. I mean 90% off Alexander Wang is hard to resist. Plus, Kelly Cutrone would be proud of my vast collection of black attire! But it’s 80 degrees and sunny so I said to myself, “Let’s get out of the winter blahs and get some color back in our wardrobe!”
So whether you are a fan of black, like me, or just looking to further expand the color palette of your closet, here are some of my picks to brighten up your everyday wear.
First, the Blythe silk blouse in bright sun. Sure, Equipment of Paris is the luxury line of blouses, but this blouse is an easy, breezy piece for a fraction of the price. Plus, this yellow is divine and goes with everything from jeans to black trousers.
Despite my inclination to neutral colors, I am in love with the color of the moment: mint. This patent leather belt is a quick way to add a pop of color to any outfit.
While more of an investment piece, I adore this Featherweight cashmere oversize tee in neon pink. Despite not being too much of a fan of pink, I love the relaxed look of the top.
For color from head to toe, the Mona suede pumps in deep orchid are perfect. These make up for the fact the J.Crew and Manolo Blahnik collaboration isn’t happened. Best of all? They are on sale!
I swear Jenna made this item just for me, and can you say Celine influence? The silk crepe printed popover is so carefree and instantly makes an outfit. Now, we wait for it to go on sale.
